Late-Night Food in NYC: The Real After-Hours Map by Party Zone
This is what's actually open at 2–4am in NYC in 2026, organized by the nightlife zone you're already standing in — not a recycled 2019 listicle. Every closing time below was checked against at least two current sources; where hours drift, we say "typically" and tell you to confirm.
The single biggest late-night mistake is assuming a legendary spot still keeps legendary hours. Several don't (Wo Hop, we love you, but you close at 10pm now). Match your food plan to your party zone before you go out, and the end of the night takes care of itself.

Lower East Side & East Village: The Classic Triangle
If you're bar-hopping around Ludlow, Orchard, or Avenue A — see our Lower East Side nightlife guide and East Village nightlife guide for the drinking part — you have the densest late-night food cluster in the city.
- Katz's Delicatessen (205 E Houston St). Open around the clock from Friday morning through late Sunday night; Monday–Thursday it closes around 11pm. A pastrami sandwich runs about $27+ and feeds two drunk people adequately, one hungry person perfectly. Honest downside: weekend 1am lines can hit 30+ minutes, and the ticket system confuses everyone at 2am. Don't lose the ticket — there's a fee.
- Veselka (144 Second Ave). The Ukrainian diner brought back 24-hour service on Fridays and Saturdays in April 2026 — a genuine East Village comeback story. Sunday–Thursday it closes around midnight. Pierogi and borscht at 3am is the correct end to a St. Marks night.
- Ray's Candy Store (113 Avenue A). Open 24/7 since roughly forever (1974). Cash-friendly counter for fried Oreos, beignets, and egg creams. It's a takeout window, not a restaurant — you'll eat in Tompkins Square-adjacent chaos, which is part of it.
Greenwich Village: MacDougal Street at 3am
The MacDougal/Bleecker corridor is a food court after midnight.
- Mamoun's Falafel (119 MacDougal St). Open to 4am Friday and Saturday, roughly 2–3am on weeknights, ~1am Sunday. A falafel sandwich is still one of Manhattan's great sub-$7 meals. Downside: the hot sauce is a commitment you make with tomorrow's self.
- Joe's Pizza (7 Carmine St). To 4am Friday–Saturday, ~3am other nights. The benchmark plain slice. There is always a line at 2am; it moves fast.
Koreatown: The All-Night Insurance Policy
West 32nd Street is the closest thing Manhattan has to a Seoul-style all-night strip, and it's a five-minute walk from most of Midtown's clubs and karaoke rooms.
- New Wonjo (23 W 32nd St). Charcoal-grill Korean BBQ typically serving until about 5am daily (some listings say 24 hours — treat ~5am as the safe assumption). Expect roughly $30–50/person if you're grilling meat, far less for a solo bowl of soondubu.
- Several karaoke bars and cafes on the block run past 3am on weekends; K-town rewards just walking the strip and reading door signs.
Chinatown: One Legend Fell, One Stands
- Great NY Noodletown (28 Bowery). Typically open to about 4am. Roast duck over rice and wonton noodle soup at 3am with an after-shift crowd of bartenders and cooks — this is the real late-night NYC. Cash is smart here.
- Wo Hop (17 Mott St). Fair warning: the basement institution that once fed the 4am city now lists hours of roughly 10:30am–10pm. Go for history and cheap Cantonese-American plates — just go before your night out, not after.
Hell's Kitchen & Midtown: Carts and 24-Hour Counters
- Empanada Mama (765 9th Ave). Open 24/7, 40+ empanada varieties around $4–6 each. The reliable end to a Hell's Kitchen bar night, and one of very few true 24-hour sit-downs left in Manhattan.
- The Halal Guys (cart at W 53rd St & 6th Ave). The original cart typically serves to about 4am or later. Chicken-and-rice with white sauce, ~$11–13. The line at 2am is long but theatrical. Copycat carts on nearby corners are fine, but this is the one.
- Street carts generally: any busy nightlife corner in Manhattan has a halal cart running past 3am on weekends. Quality varies; a long line of locals is the only review that matters.
Williamsburg & Bushwick: Where Brooklyn Nights End
- Kellogg's Diner (518 Metropolitan Ave, Williamsburg). Reopened in late 2024 under new ownership and back to true 24/7 service — classic diner menu plus a Tex-Mex streak. It sits right at the Lorimer/Metropolitan G-L junction, so it's the natural last stop for both Williamsburg and Bushwick nights.
- Bushwick: the taquerias around the Jefferson and Morgan L stops and along Knickerbocker Ave typically run to 1–2am on weekends (Taqueria Al Pastor is a known ~2am option; Los Hermanos tortilleria closes earlier). After 2am, your realistic moves are a 24-hour deli chopped cheese or the L train to Kellogg's. Full venue rundown in our Bushwick nightlife guide.
Rules of the 3am Food Run
- Eat in the zone you're already in. A 20-minute ride for food at 3am kills the night's momentum and adds $20+ in car fare. Plan the ride home around food, not the reverse — our subway-at-night guide covers which lines are actually worth waiting for after 2am.
- "Open until 4am" means the kitchen, usually. Some spots stop seating 15–30 minutes before close. Arrive with margin.
- Carry a little cash. Carts and a few Chinatown counters are cash-preferred, and card minimums appear after midnight.
- Hours drift. Every "typically" in this guide is an instruction to check Google Maps or the venue's site before you commit to a cross-neighborhood mission.

FAQ
Is Katz's Deli open 24 hours?
Only on weekends. Katz's runs continuously from Friday morning through late Sunday night, so 2am pastrami works Friday and Saturday nights. Monday through Thursday it closes around 11pm, so a weeknight 1am run will find the gates down.
Is Veselka open 24 hours again?
Partly. In April 2026 Veselka brought back around-the-clock service on Fridays and Saturdays. Sunday through Thursday it closes around midnight. Confirm on veselka.com before a 3am weeknight pierogi mission.
What food is open at 4am in Manhattan?
Your most reliable 4am options are Empanada Mama in Hell's Kitchen (24/7), Ray's Candy Store in the East Village (24/7), New Wonjo in K-town (typically to about 5am), Mamoun's and Joe's Pizza in the Village (to 4am Friday–Saturday), Great NY Noodletown in Chinatown (typically to about 4am), and the original Halal Guys cart at 53rd and 6th (typically to about 4am or later).
Where do you eat after a night out in Williamsburg or Bushwick?
Kellogg's Diner at Metropolitan and Union in Williamsburg reopened under new owners and is back to 24/7 service, making it the default post-club meal for north Brooklyn. In Bushwick, the taquerias along Knickerbocker and around the Jefferson L stop typically run to 1–2am on weekends; after that, most people ride to Kellogg's or hit a 24-hour deli.
Is Wo Hop still open until 4am?
No. The famous basement at 17 Mott Street once served into the early morning, but current listed hours are roughly 10:30am to 10pm. For a genuinely late Chinatown meal, Great NY Noodletown on Bowery (typically to about 4am) is the move now.
Prefer a Guided Food Night?
If you'd rather have someone else route the eating, guided NYC food tours (Chinatown, LES, pizza crawls) can be booked at https://www.getyourguide.com/new-york-l59/food-drinks-tc1751/ — typically $50–100/person. They end early, though; the 3am run above is on you.
