Methodology: How NY Nightlife Verifies Facts

Nightlife information rots fast. Covers change weekly, dress codes tighten at 11pm, and venues close without updating anyone. Our answer is a simple discipline: every fact is dated, sourced, and re-verified on a schedule — or it doesn't get published.

The verification rules

• Last-verified stamps. Every venue fact page shows the date its facts were last checked. Stamps older than 30 days get re-verified in weekly batches.
• Sources on the page. Each venue page lists where its facts came from — official venue sites, ticketing pages (RA, Dice, Eventbrite, Ticketmaster), and reservation platforms — checked directly, not copied from other guides.
• "Reported" vs. verified. When a venue doesn't publish something (door selectivity, unofficial dress codes), we say so explicitly: those facts are marked reported or unverified. Nothing unverifiable is presented as fact.
• Real prices, real downsides. Weekend and tonight picks carry the actual listed ticket prices at time of writing, and each weekend feature includes one honest "skip this" item. No pay-to-play placement, ever.
• Live feeds over stale lists. The Tonight feed rebuilds daily from event APIs and official listings; the weekend page is rewritten every Thursday.

Corrections

If a cover, hour, or policy on this site is wrong, it's a bug — report it and the page gets re-verified and re-stamped. Materially wrong facts are corrected on the page, not quietly deleted.
