Editorial Policy
NY Nightlife exists to answer one question well: what will tonight actually cost, and will you get in? That only works if the facts are right. This page is the standard we hold every page to.
Sourcing rules
- Venue facts come from named sources. Covers, hours, dress codes, and age policies on our venue pages come from the venue's own website, booking system, or FAQ wherever possible.
- No invented facts, ever. If we can't verify a number, we either label it or leave it out. We never fill a gap with a guess.
- Dates on everything. Every venue page carries a "last verified" date so you can judge freshness yourself.
"Reported" vs "verified"
We distinguish two kinds of claims and label them in the data itself:
- Verified / official — published by the venue (site, FAQ, booking page) and fetched by us on a stated date.
- Reported — consistently described by credible third parties (reviews, listings, press) but not published by the venue. Door minimums and unwritten dress codes often live here. When you see "reported," that's us telling you the venue won't put it in writing.
Our concierge, Nyla, inherits these labels — she quotes the data as labeled and says "not published" when that's the truth.
Corrections
Nightlife changes weekly; some facts will go stale between verification passes. When a reader or a re-check catches an error, we correct the page and refresh its verification date. Spotted something wrong? Contact us — corrections from readers are acted on first.
AI assistance
This site is maintained with AI tooling, under these editorial rules. AI helps us fetch, compare, and format; the sourcing rules above bind every page regardless of how it was produced — no fact appears anywhere on this site unless it traces to a source we can name. The same discipline drives Nyla, whose answers are restricted to the site's own dated data.
No pay-to-play
Venues cannot pay to be included, ranked higher, or reviewed more kindly. Our venue verdicts include downsides on purpose. The site earns from ads and affiliate partnerships (booking, tours, tickets), as described in our affiliate disclosure — and those partners have no influence on rankings like best clubs or any verdict we publish.
