What that means: this is the weekend the summer breaks. Saturday and Sunday are effectively rain-free, so that is where the outdoor money goes — The Ruins at Knockdown Center, the Nowadays backyard, the Public Records garden. Friday's 37% storm chance is high enough to burn a rooftop plan, so treat Friday's outdoor picks as a maybe and keep an indoor room in your back pocket. And note the lows: 63°F and 61°F overnight is a real drop from last weekend's high 60s. Bring an actual jacket if you are walking out of a club at 4am, not just a shirt.

Soul Summit Music x Le Bain Sunset — Le Bain, the Standard High Line, Meatpacking. 5:00–10:00pm, free with RSVP. Soul Summit's Fort Greene house legacy on a Manhattan rooftop at golden hour, at no cost. It is the best-value thing on the weekend — and the thing most exposed to Friday's thunderstorms. Time Out lists general admission around $105 and VIP around $220; the official Eventbrite listing says online sales close September 3, so by Friday this is likely a door-or-nothing proposition. fabric New York: Jeff Mills, Ben UFO, Craig Richards, Helena Hauff, x3butterfly, Shvili — Creekside at Under the K Bridge, Greenpoint. 2:00pm–2:00am. London's fabric brings its acclaimed audiovisual concept to New York for the first time, produced with ReSolute and with a visual show by dreamrec. $54.75 all-in for entry before 3pm on RA is the cheapest way in and the reason to show up early. Releases one through five have sold out; the final release is $109.55, and DICE lists from $56.65. Twelve hours outdoors on the one genuinely perfect weather day of the weekend. Hot Since 82 with Danny Tenaglia, Juliet Mendoza, Kilopatrah Jones — Knockdown Center, Maspeth. 3:00pm–5:00am, 21+, a full-venue day-and-night takeover: Hot Since 82 and Juliet Mendoza by day, Danny Tenaglia added at night. New York Panorama steel-pan championship — Brooklyn Museum, 200 Eastern Parkway. Gates 6:00pm, show 7:00pm. The largest steel-pan competition in North America and the emotional centre of Carnival week — full orchestras, months of panyard rehearsal, decided in one night. Mister Sunday: Long Weekend Edition, Justin Carter and Eamon Harkin — Nowadays backyard, Ridgewood. 3:00–9:00pm. Both residents together, outdoors, on a 74°F cloudless afternoon. The Monday you are actually planning around

Labor Day, Monday September 7, is the reason this weekend behaves differently. The West Indian American Day Carnival Parade takes over Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights, drawing crowds counted in the millions, preceded before dawn by J'Ouvert and its paint, powder and steel pan. Both are free.

One honest caveat: as of 2026-09-03 the organisers had not published the official 2026 parade start time or route, and FOX 5 New York's guide still noted the same gap. Reported start times cluster around mid-morning for the parade and pre-dawn for J'Ouvert, but we are not going to print a time we cannot verify from two sources. Check the NYPD street-closure advisory the night before, and take the subway — driving anywhere near Eastern Parkway on Monday is not a plan.

The knock-on for Sunday night: if you are doing J'Ouvert, do not book a 5am room on Sunday. Knockdown Center also runs Soul Summit in The Ruins on Labor Day Monday itself, which is the natural landing spot after the parade.

Skip this (the honest item)

Solid Grooves at Fulton Fish Market, Saturday — from about $86.73 on DICE, with RA's remaining general-admission tier at $137.95. Dennis Cruz, Michael Bibi and PAWSA b3b is a real bill, and plenty of people will have a great day. But look at what that money buys: seven hours, 3pm to 10pm, in a fish market in Hunts Point in the Bronx — a genuinely awkward trip from anywhere you are likely to be staying, and a long way from any second stop.

The same Saturday, Hot Since 82 at Knockdown Center is about $34.50 for fourteen hours, and fabric's New York debut with Jeff Mills, Ben UFO, Craig Richards and Helena Hauff is $54.75 if you walk in before 3pm. You can do both of those for less than one Solid Grooves ticket and still have cab fare left. Book Solid Grooves because you specifically want that b3b — not because you want a big Saturday.

What changed since the last update

Rebuilt for Sept 4–6. Everything from the Aug 28–30 edition has now happened. MoMA PS1's Warm Up finished its 28th season on August 28, and the Charlie Parker Jazz Festival closed its 2026 run in Tompkins Square Park on August 30. Neither returns this weekend.
Restored: "Night & Day" at Signal. We held it off the last edition because the venue calendar, the RA listing and the ticket vendor disagreed on the date. Resident Advisor now lists it cleanly for Friday, September 4, 10pm into Saturday 2pm, so it is back on the page.
Added: the Labor Day layer. Carnival week programming at the Brooklyn Museum (SocaFest on Friday, Junior Carnival and Panorama on Saturday) and Monday's parade now sit alongside the club listings, because they change how you should sequence the whole weekend.
Flagged as sold out: Underworld's Knockdown Center shows on September 3 and 4 are sold out and on waitlist, and all three of BASEMENT's Saturday releases show sold out on RA. We would rather tell you now than have you arrive at a door.
Weather re-pulled 2026-09-03 from the National Weather Service, and the temperature guidance rewritten — overnight lows drop to 61–63°F this weekend, a real change from last week's high 60s.

Plan it properly

Budget bands. Lean ($0–$60): the free Le Bain sunset on Friday, the free Junior Carnival parade on Saturday morning, and Glitterbox at $17.80 before 11pm. Balanced ($120–$250): fabric before 3pm on Saturday, Mister Sunday early entry, one late room. Premium ($250+): fabric's final release, Horse Meat Disco at Knockdown Center on Sunday at $86.52, and a car home.
Buy early, not just presale. This weekend the early tiers are literally cheaper doors, not just marketing: $54.75 before 3pm at fabric, $17.80 before 11pm at House of Yes, $37.65 before 4pm at Mister Sunday, $25.50 before 11pm at Battle Hymn. Arriving early is the discount.
Sequence by geography. Knockdown Center, BASEMENT, Nowadays, House of Yes, Elsewhere, Signal and Paragon all sit in one Bushwick–Ridgewood–Maspeth cluster; Under the K Bridge is a separate Greenpoint trip. Public Records and Le Bain are the two picks outside that cluster. Do not plan a Manhattan-to-Queens double-jump after midnight.
Use the weather. Spend the outdoor money on Saturday and Sunday. Friday's 37% storm chance is high enough to cost you a rooftop, and the free Le Bain RSVP is the low-risk way to gamble on it.
Plan around Monday. If Eastern Parkway is on your list, Sunday night should end before 3am, not after it.
